Gamers are truly spoiled for choice these days. There are some fantastic consoles around and at the top of the pile you will find the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

Sales to Date
At the time of writing, the PS4 has produced more impressive sales figures to date. This can be seen in the fact that it has run out of stock on more than one occasion. The most recent figures for the newest generation of the Xbox come from a couple of months before this and put sales at close to 10 million. However, that is only part of the story. In recent months the Microsoft has been largely outselling its Sony rival, mainly thanks to a price cut and an improve bundle.
Critical Reviews
The truth is that everyone has a different opinion on these two consoles. The simplest way to put it is that they are both fantastic gaming machines that most of us would be delighted to own. In general terms we could perhaps say that the Xbox One is a stronger overall entertainment package while the PS4 offers a little more pure gaming pleasure. Having said that, a quick look online will show you that are many different opinions on these consoles and on which one is better. Both offer terrific graphics and some nice features. For some people the range of exclusive games is the deciding factor, depending upon which games they are most interested in playing.
The Price
One of the best guides to how these two consoles will fare in the futures comes in the shape of their current price tags. With both of them being such top class machines it is easy to see how people could be swayed by any difference in the price tag. In fact, as mentioned earlier, a recent price drop in the Xbox One has seen it begin to outsell the PS4. It is possible that a price war between Sony and Microsoft could see both drop drastically in price and could make a huge difference to the success of both.
Summary
At the moment it is extremely difficult to know whether the PS4 or the Xbox One is going to emerge as the overall winner of this tussle. It is clear that the public love both machines and it is entirely possible that in the future both will be looked back on as winners. For the moment, the Sony model has a strong lead in the global sales figures but there is still a long way to go in this exciting battle for console supremacy.
