Announced just today, the newest Peek tries to lure with apps and more apps. As against Peek’s lines of creating a device that does less but best, with the Peek 9 it has somewhat started being cluttered with junk. Adding Facebook, Twitter and Google Maps, the low-cost text-only device is trying to measly stand out among iPhone and Android phones. It promises even faster e-mailing, and with the added feature called Peektop Apps, it enables you to create your own apps. With “PeekMaps”, it claims to allow you to use GoogleMaps in realtime, but omits GPS making the claim bit shaky. It boasts of a new hardware but has not given any details yet. The Peak 9, just like the previous versions, comes with super-affordable price of $70 plus $20 monthly cost. Let’s see how long this smartphone-sans-phone survives on it’s self-proclaimed USP.
